What is the Cenla Youth Choir? It's an exciting part of a new community driven program from Nugent Music Academy! The CYC is designed for students who love music and singing and want an opportunity to participate in an ensemble that's focused on quality music education and giving back to the surrounding community through music. There will be several performance opportunities throughout the year.
Who can join Cenla Youth Choir? 1st grade and up can join the choir - we split into groups and easier parts to accommodate different levels of singing ability and vocal range. No auditions are required to join, everyone is welcome!
What will students learn in Cenla Youth Choir? They'll learn core musical concepts like rhythm and note reading along with vocal specific skills - when and how to properly breathe, diction (how to pronounce words while singing), and exercises to help with breath support and range. Singing in a group creates a sense of belonging to something larger than ourselves and fosters a love for community and empathy for people. Members also gain social skills, learn about resiliency and being a team player, and get to create memories that last for a lifetime.
How much is Cenla Youth Choir? The inaugural season of CYC is a 13 week session that begins September 3rd and continues through December 2nd. There's a $25 fee to cover music, t-shirts, and other assorted needs and a discounted membership fee of $100 if paid in full at the beginning of the season. If preferred, the membership fee can also be spread out over 4 installment payments of $30.
