Guitar Classes

What are guitar classes? Beginning guitar classes utilize theory games, rhythm reading, note reading, and activities to promote coordination to create a classroom experience that's engaging and fun. Students learn a variety of songs in different styles, classic riffs, fun exercises, and gain an expansive chord vocabulary!

Who are guitar classes for? Anyone 7 or older who wants to play the guitar! There are separate groups for ages 7 - 11 and ages 12 - 17. Doesn't seem like what you're wanting? Check out private instruction by clicking here.

What do students learn in guitar classes? Students learn traditional music theory, ear training, and technique through popular song selections. Our goal is to keep students interested and exposed to new ideas so that they'll continue to pick up their instrument and discover what they're most interested in learning.

Do we need a guitar at home to play? Students in guitar classes do need an instrument in order to play their exercises and songs at home. Many students start on an entry level guitar and upgrade to a more professional instrument as they progress. There are several options available at Nugent Music, located in the same building as NMA, and they have a trade-up program specifically designed for students!

What if we need to miss a class? Not a problem! Look at the calendar in the student/parent portal, select another class time that works with your schedule for the week, and let your instructor know!

How much are guitar classes and how many weeks of class are there in a semester? A semester of guitar classes include 17 lessons.
