What is Guitar Class? Students receive the same training that they would in a private lesson and they get to play along with other young musicians, which we've found tends to lead to more interested and engaged students.
Why Guitar Class? Group classes put the "fun" in music fundamentals! Students learn and retain knowledge best when they're having a good time and are engaged in an activity - and what's more fun and engaging than making music with other people? Various instruments, games, worksheets and musical activities will make a regular appearance in this class.
Who are Guitar Classes for? Anyone between the ages of 7 and 14 can join guitar classes - there are different levels of difficulty and students will be able to learn at their own pace while scaling up their mastery level! Students older than 14 may be interested in private lessons or in auditioning for one of the advanced ensembles.
What will students learn from joining a Guitar Class? They'll learn traditional note and rhythm reading while learning songs on their instrument. They'll also learn to work with others in a collaborative effort while gaining confidence and learning more about themselves and the world around them! The goal of guitar classes is to inspire and instill a love for music making that students will carry into their adult lives.
Do we need instruments at home for this class? We have extra guitars around the studio if you don't have one or if yours doesn't make it to class. Practice isn't required for class attendance but is strongly suggested. We're more focused on making music accessible to all and keeping it fun while picking up some new skills along the way. (Disclaimer: you'll have so much fun that you'll definitely want to practice! The more students are around their instrument and playing the more they like their instrument!) Instruments are always available for rent or purchase in Nugent Music & Audio if a student takes a specific interest and wants to learn at a faster pace.
What if we need to miss a class? We'll have 2 make-up classes that students can attend if they miss a regular class. We can also Facetime during their regular lesson time.
Is this class the same as regular lessons? Students will learn musical concepts as they regularly would but they get to stay for a longer session and they get to have fun with music and students their own age. No practice requirement means less stress at home - this class is perfect for anyone with a busy schedule!
