Rock Band/Guitar Class

What is Rock Band? Rock Band is a guitar class. It's our answer to beginner guitar and bass lessons. Students receive the same training that they would in a private lesson and they get to play along with other young musicians, which we've found tends to lead to more interested and engaged students.

Why Rock Band? Rock Band puts the "fun" in music fundamentals! Students learn and retain knowledge best when they're having a good time and are engaged in an activity - and what's more fun and engaging than making music with a band? Drum kits, acoustic and electric guitars, bass guitars, keyboards, microphones and more will make an appearance in this class.

Who is Rock Band for? Anyone between the ages of 7 and 12 can join Rock Band - there are different levels of difficulty for each instrument and students will be able to learn at their own pace while scaling up their mastery level! Rock Band is also an excellent class for students who aren't sure of what instrument they'd like to play. Ages 13 and up can join an upper level Rock Band more suited for their learning style and ability!

What will students learn from joining a Rock Band class? They'll learn traditional note and rhythm reading while learning songs on the instruments described above. They'll also learn to work with others in a collaborative effort while gaining confidence and learning more about themselves and the world around them! The goal of Rock Band classes is to inspire and instill a love for music making that students will carry into their adult lives.

Do we need instruments at home for this class? No practice is required to attend the younger sections of Rock Band. We're more focused on making music accessible to all and keeping it fun while picking up some new skills along the way. (Disclaimer: you'll have so much fun that you'll definitely want to practice! The more students are around their instrument and playing the more they like their instrument!) Instruments are always available for rent or purchase in Nugent Music & Audio if a student takes a specific interest and wants to learn at a faster pace. Students who are 13 and up are required to have an instrument.

What if we need to miss a class? We'll have 2 make-up classes that students can attend if they miss a regular class. We can also Facetime during their regular lesson time.

Is this class the same as regular lessonsStudents will learn musical concepts as they regularly would but in a setting that will inspire them to discover what instrument they're interested in. No practice requirement means less stress at home - this class is perfect for anyone with a busy schedule!
